Yesterday, I wondered how I could start that post. “Maybe the title talks to me more than it will do for my readers”, I thought in my perfumed bath, after a hard working day. But at that time, in this little bathroom, my bath was so nice, I felt so quiet, that I realized how lucky I was to get hot water flowing from the tap whenever I want. That simple sight of the tap stroke my mind at once: all we’ve got nowadays is made for our comfort, to give us more pleasure to live. But do we know it? How many things make life go easy?
So I thought it would be great to write a short summary, in the aim to bring back you a smile next time you’ll do or use any of the things below. Then seen under a different angle, they could lead some of you to realize how much times have changed in less than a century, thanks to the work and the imagination of thousands of men and women through the world who wanted to improve things. You’ll probably think like me: we all can change something for better in our own life, even our way of thinking. So let’s start:
Do you realize that you’re able to:
- Drive a car, and go everywhere with it
- Go to any shop center and find there everything you want to eat or drink
- Chat with your banker and ask him for a loan
- Dress as you like
- Eat at any restaurant
- Watch the TV
- Get electricity at home
- Get WC and bathroom at home
- Listen to every kind of music
- Write with a pen on a paper
- Go and see a movie
- Use each single day: make up, shampoo, conditioner, shaver, soap, wax, hair straightener, perfume, deodorant, nail lacquer, and so on
- Say what you want without any fear of ending your life in a jail
- Have some laws and insurances which protect you whatever happens
- Stay in bed with a cold instead of working, and keep your income safe (when you’re an employee)
- Be healed by a doctor
- Learn whatever you want
- Call anyone, from anywhere, wherever you want
- Get a computer, a tab, a smartphone and go on the web
- Love who you want
- See your children who live far, thanks to the web
- Get a calculator
- Wear a bikini at the beach
- Live with someone without being married
- Work and be financially self-sufficient
- Be single if you like
- Fly on a plane
- Get your specs to see, your arms to hold, your legs to go on, your tongue to taste some delicious foods, your teeth well healed to crunch them, your nose to smell awesome perfumes, your mind to think about your life, your heart to love…
So I guess you’ll add a lot of things by yourself after the reading of that post, and you’re right: do it, again, and again, up to the time you’ll feel a deep, real happiness in your heart. Next time you’ll pay a bill for these things, remember to be grateful and thankful to the Universe to bring you all these simple and practical things, and also to you for working hard to enjoy them.
I wish you a long and interesting list!
Love,
Jane
