Call out your inner doctor!

Hippocrates (460-370 B.C.), considered as the Father of the Modern Medicine and the founder of the ethical rules for the doctors (Hippocratic Oath) has been a philosopher too. For him, the most important was the patient to be recovered, so he founded his art of medicine in a balance of eating according to each season, and the kind of mood of each patient: air, fire, water or earth. Hippocrates was the first doctor to talk about the use of eating well each day, but also with the aim to heal some diseases: healthy food, a very moderate use of medicines, so ultimately the surgery.

Finally, things are not very different nowadays: dietitians and naturopaths say the same to their clients. Eating according to the season is the main way to feel fine all the year. In winter, we can eat meats in sauce, cooked vegetables, and in summer, it’s better to eat fresh vegetables and more fruits.

Now, we can find lots of diets which sound attractive to lose weight everywhere, but not very good to keep us in a good health. As Hippocrates would demonstrate during his practice of medicine, food is the first medicine you eat: it’s called “functional food” which means what you eat can drive you to heal (or to keep yourself in a good health). Ok, we can’t heal all the big diseases with food only, but it can bring a patient more energy to fight against their disease.

So at that beginning of summer, I want to talk about our inner doctor that can do so much for us when it needs. Some tips here, to go through heat, tiredness, lack of energy, and to feel fine when the fall will come over:

1/ Drink mild temperature water the day long, but a few at each time (no need to tire your kidneys). Be careful you drink water with a very low rate of dry residues, because that water gets not a lot of minerals, which is better for your kidneys, and your health (minerals can be found in food).

2/ Eat some salads, fresh (or half cooked) vegetables and fresh fruits. Give up fat and sugar: you need less energy than in winter, right? So fruits get fructose inside that’s a good sugar, and more than enough.

3/ Wear very comfortable and light cloths, that makes your body not too warm.

4/ Sleep at night! Sleeping is good to bring back energy for the next day. So sleeping naked is fine to burn calories if ever you need to lose some weight!

5/ Keep your mind open and clear: summer is a good time to fall in love, to change things in your life, to meet new people.

6/ Have a nap each day for a few minutes if you can. But in case you can’t, just a little meditation, a prayer, a thought of happiness will be good too: adapt yourself to any situation. On the beach, it’s easy to get a nap for a while, under an sunshade, but at work a meditation can bring a time of relaxing very successful to feel fine up to the end of the day.

7/ Have fun. I mean, take some time for you, and enjoy going out for dinner with your friends or family too. Wealth is inside you, so when you keep in touch with your inner power of love, that brings you energy and increases your vibe: happiness is not far!

8/ Think positive, even if you can’t get now that promotion you’re seeking. The Universe will offer that to you, at the best time. It’s the same for everything!

9/ Have a sea-bathing each time you go to the beach: their beneficial effects last all year.

10/ Have sex. It’s good for everything. But if you’re single, the best is to prepare yourself for your next love story: tan your skin, be smiling, change your wardrobe for a new one, be cool and easy going with everybody (at work too!), treat yourself with body oils, nail lacquer (for women), a nice and light after-shave (for men), and keep your sense of humour! Be confident, love will come back in your life faster then you think!

The doctor inside us helps to move on, to think about who we are, what we need, and how, so what must be changed. They talk to us by the way of our feelings and emotions. Feeling like a child: “good/bad”, “want/don’t want” is an indication about what you need at time t, which means you’re living now and here. The doctor inside us is just a kind part of ourselves, the one which cares on us, and wokes us up too. So we may call them out whenever it needs, and they come over at once.

Love,

Jane
